’90s Playback

How-To: '90s Makeup Look

I’ve been feeling nostalgic lately, with so many ’90s-inspired fashion and beauty trends making a strong comeback. From choker necklaces and bell-bottom jeans to rimmed eyeliner and brownish-pink lips, everything old is new again.

I wanted to put a modern twist on a retro look using some brand new beauty products. If you’re feeling a bit of a ’90s vibe happening then this look is for you. Keep the blush subtle and on the warmer side if you’re going for a warm brown lip—and skip the eyeliner in lieu of a heavier rimmed look. Want to see exactly how to create this look? I skipped eyeshadow but rimmed Alex’s eyes with The Estée Edit The Edgiest Kohl in Black Viper. I applied it along the upper and lower lashline as well as the waterline, then softly smudged it with a Q-tip. I didn’t bring the eyeliner out into a complete cat-eye, but I did connect the upper and lower lashline at the outer corner.
