No one knows eyebrows like Anastasia. I’ve been using Anastasia for years to help groom my brows, but it wasn’t until recently I started actually using the Anastasia Beauty Express for Brows and Eyes ($39.50 USD / $51 CAD), a eyebrow-grooming palette that includes brow wax, brow powder, eyeshadow, a brow brush, stencils and instructions for proper grooming. I’ve always been a fan of the Anastasia Tinted Brow Gel, but it was time to start using a little more help to fill my increasingly-patchy brows.
The palette is nice and slim; it tucks away neatly with my eyeshadow palettes and still travels well. I’ve always been blessed with quite full brows, but lately I’ve found myself wanting to fill them in to make them stand out a little more (they can look a little… invisible… in photos or certain lighting). This is the Brunette palette, but there is also a Blonde palette (I’m pretty sure the only shade difference is in the brow powders).
I followed the instructions for grooming and shaping my brows. First, I measured my eyebrow up against the included brow stencils (for reference, I’m “Petite Arch”, but you can also shape your brows with different stencils if you’re trying to go for a different look. The instructions say to fill brows with wax first, then hold up the stencil against your brow and fill it in with your appropriate brow color. Afterwards, tweeze any outlier hairs.
The palette doesn’t include a pair of tweezers, which I think is quite misfortunate, considering they are the only tool missing from this palette that is essential in keeping perfect, groomed brows. Having said that, I always reach for my Tweezerman tweezers, because nothing else compares, so it’s really not too much of a loss.
Next, I applied the shimmery eyeshadow to my inner corner and brow bone, and applied the matte eyeshadow to the lid. The eyeshadow is a nice addition, but completely unnecessary as there are many fantastic highlighters out there (and there’s really not enough contrast in the eyeshadows for a complete look).
The arch looks great, the colors are a fantastic match and I love how I can really customize my color using the two powders. The wax shapes my brows nicely without causing them to look (or get) crispy… which usually happened with the gel.
I’m definitely a huge fan of this palette, and would recommend it to those who want to start giving a little more TLC to their brows. I wouldn’t, however, recommend it for those who already have most of the tools needed (aka, a brow color… an angled brow brush… a wax stick…some eyeshadows) because the stencils aren’t worth the pricetag alone and can be purchased separately from a beauty supply store by a variety of different brands.
