Right after the launch of the groundbreaking bareMinerals Ready Eyeshadows, Bare Escentuals snuck in their new Ready Touch Up Veil which didn’t get nearly as much attention, but I thought it was pretty exciting so I had to give it a go!
The Packaging
The pressed powder comes in a compact that looks a lot like the bareMinerals Ready Eyeshadows, only a bit thicker. A rounded square shape with a curved bottom- it looks really sleek and beautiful. The packaging does get a tad dirty, almost like the NARS packaging, but its much easier to clean in my opinion. It also comes with a nice, luxurious powder puff for on-the-go touch ups.
The Powder
Coming out with a pressed finishing powder was a huge step for Bare Escentuals- something they said a few years ago that they would never do. However, as technology advances and they were able to maintain their philosophy of pure, natural minerals but in pressed form- they decided to give it a go. The original Mineral Veil has won countless awards and editor’s favourites for years, and now, its available in pressed form and I must say it’s quite lovely!
Primarily meant for touch-ups (but I would use it to set my makeup anyways), this powder works pretty much exactly like the original loose formula. It is seriously the BEST for hiding pores, but it also works wonders on oil slicks and uneven texture. My only gripe with is it that I don’t find it lasts all day… I definitely feel the need to touch up throughout the day to keep my skin looking fresh & flawless. There’s no color to this translucent shade, however it is available in a tinted shade which offers a little bit of warmth and color.
I tried swatching it, but because its translucent it didn’t even show up on camera… so I guess that’s a good thing to expect in a setting powder! A great investment, especially for mineral makeup lovers. So much more convenient and mess-free to use a pressed powder! I’m just wondering if maybe a pressed mineral foundation is on the horizon now?
Summary
- Price: $22 USD / $28 CDN
- Availability: Sephora and other Bare Escentuals retailers
- Overall: A fantastic step for Bare Escentuals- works a lot like the original to hide pores and give a diffused look, but doesn’t really last throughout the day. Touch-ups are needed (which is probably why they came out with this powder in the first place).
