Bare Escentuals Strike It Rich Collection Review, Photos & Swatches (Boutique Exclusive Holiday 2011)

Published On November 4, 2011 | Reviews

The Bare Escentuals Strike It Rich Collection ($28USD) set an awesome little gift set, especially for those that like cream eyeshadows/bases like MAC Paint Pots, Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadows, etc.  This kit is a Boutique exclusive (can also be purchased online) and contains 5 little Prime Time Primer Eyeshadows (each half the size of the regular ones). Be sure to check out the video review as well to see all the products in action.

The Eyeshadows

These cute little tubes are perfect if you’re into eye bases (or you know someone that is).  I honestly didn’t have huge expectations for them- I had seen them around various blogs but I must say I’m really in love with them!  They have incredible pigmentation, you really only need a little bit (check out the video and you’ll see), they blend really smoothly on the eye (a problem that makes me hate MAC paint pots) and once they set- the DO NOT budge.

Sundance is a golden peach shade that is a pretty universal base.  It’s not too metallic, but does a good job of brightening the eye area.  I personally like to use it as a lid color and just add some purple or bronze eyeshadow into the crease to add some depth, but they also work great to pack other colours on overtop and intensify them.

I really love Golden Nugget a lot more than Golden Peach from the RSVP collection, which was a little too yellow-y for me. This one is more of a bronzy-gold and looks absolutely gorgeous all on its own.

Sandalwood is my favorite out of all of these little guys- its a warm bronze-meets-taupe and I’ve found myself reaching for this one all the time lately!

Gunmetal looks fantastic all over the lid and paired with a smokey black eyeliner or intense smokey eye. It’s so richly pigmented and easy to blend- it really makes the classic smokey eye even that much more easier!

Bronzed Twig is a gorgeous deep chocolate brown. I find it a little prettier swatched on my hand then on my eye simply because it is so dark…its not something I would wear all over the eyelid for fear of looking like I have a black eye. Thank goodness it blends nicely and I can pair it with one of the lighter shades!

I’m incredibly happy with the value and quality of these little primer eyeshadows. I wish I would have given them a shot earlier because they really are wonderful. Another bonus that I like is that because they are in tubes, they aren’t as prone to drying out (less exposure to the air then say a cream eyeshadow or base in a jar). At less than $6/piece, this would make a great stocking stuffer or split them up in to little party favours (especially when the full size, aka double the amount, retails for $18/each)…but let’s be honest, we know you’re gonna want them all for yourself ;)
