My skin has been thanking me ever since I found the bareMinerals skincare line… it was a sigh of relief, a breath of fresh air, a satisfying “finally” feeling that I had found a skincare system that worked for me. The only thing missing was a moisturizer with an SPF in it… until now! Bare Escentuals has finally launched their bareMinerals Advanced Protection SPF20 Moisturizer ($30 USD / $38 CAD) this spring.
I’m already a fan of the bareMinerals Purely Nourishing Moisturizer, and this is basically the same formula just with an added SPF20 for protection. I use this in the morning, and the regular moisturizer at night. The formula is lightweight and I love how it doesn’t have a lingering “sunscreen” scent.
The SPF20 protection is good for daily care- but if you’re heading to the beach or plan to be out in the sun for extended periods of time, make sure to use an actual sunscreen with at least SPF30! This isn’t a replacement for regular sunscreen- but it helps on a daily basis for regular exposure.
I know everyone reacts to skincare differently, but the bareMinerals skincare line is really the only one I’ve found that really calms, smoothes and nourishes my skin without causing breakouts. For reference, I have dry, sensitive skin in the winter and combination, sensitive skin in the summer.
The one thing I wasn’t too thrilled with was that this formula is only available for Combination Skin (which is okay for the summer… but I like using their Dry Skin formula in the winter). I hope that they decide to release a Dry Skin formula too- because it doesn’t matter how dry or oily your skin is… it needs protection!
- Price: $30 USD / $38 CAD for 50mL / 1.7oz
- Availability: Sephora
- Overall: I was already in love with the regular formula, so this one is an easy winner! It’s gentle to my skin, doesn’t make me break out and the sunscreen scent doesn’t linger long. I wish it came in a Dry Skin formula too, though!
