As some of you know, I’m trying to go sunless this summer- but I don’t want to sacrifice a great looking tan! We all know the dangers of UV rays- and I’m not too excited about premature aging, so it’s time to slather on the SPF, and stay in the shade. I’m a difficult “self-tanner”- my skin has very olive undertones so almost every self-tanner I try looks orange on me. When I tan naturally, I go BROWN. So anything with a hint of orange in it just looks un-natural to me.
I’m impressed with Sun Laboratories self tanner, but I don’t think it’s going to replace my beloved St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse ($40 USD / $42 CDN, Sephora) - I simply get a much more natural looking color for my skintone. Having said that, the experience with this self tanner was quite good. Smooth application, nice scent, and a great tint to make sure you know where you’re applying it. The color lasted about 5 days.
As for the exfoliating scrub, I think its a tad too gentle…. I did the job, but I feel like I need something a bit more thorough. I’m totally in love with the tan extender! It smells so soothing, like a cool lotion you’d slather over a sunburn (almost makes it feel like treating a real tan)!
Summary
- Price: $39.95 USD
- Availability: Sun Laboratories
- Overall: A great set for self-tanning beginners, but if you tend to find most high-quality self-tanners look orange on you, then perhaps pass on this. I know this tanner works great for some people with more neutral undertones!
