Behind the Blog [July 21, 2012]

Happy Saturday everyone! It’s been a little while since I updated you all last on what’s happening in the life of Jessica!  I’m sure you may have noticed the site looks a little different… I’m in the process of re-formatting the photos.  I’ve done this not only to give a cleaner appearance, but it also allows me to make the photos larger! It might take a little getting used to (I know I still am)….but I really like it!

[Cake] This week I celebrated my 24th birthday! On July 18th I turned one year older, and even though I don’t feel it, I had a great time celebrating with my family.  We had a delicious dinner, and my brother’s girlfriend pulled out this masterpiece for dessert! The cake was delicious- butterscotch and chocolate, designed like a Louis Vuitton bag with a Christian Louboutin shoe on top, surrounded by makeup. All of my cards and wrapping paper were adorned with shoes as well… I think my family knows me pretty well.

[With Stacey] I was in Toronto earlier this week for the Benefit Beauty Blogger Breakfast! I dragged Stacey along (not that she put up much of a fight) and we got to learn about all the new complexion and color kits the brand is releasing! It’s always so fun to attend a Benefit event- they put so much effort and attention to detail into their parties, plus seeing the team is always a pleasure!

[Lip Glosses] When Stacey and Steph came to visit me last weekend to celebrate my birthday, I made sure to put them to work (just a little bit)! I snapped a picture of them working on a special little project you’ll be seeing soon.  Can you tell what it might be by this photo?

[Studio] It only took three weeks, but I’m officially moved in and unpacked with my office/studio/beauty closet all finished and set up! I love the way it looks, and even more- how efficient I am now! I’ll be sure to film a studio tour soon, but basically I have my beauty closet, photography table, computer, filming table and product sorting table all in one room (now all I need is a mini-fridge and I’ll never have to leave)!

I also have a bit of bad news- unfortunately my lightbulb for my main light burnt out and it turns out my back-up bulb was defective! I already have a new one on its way to me… but it might take up to a week to get it.  This means that there won’t be any videos this upcoming week, and any lip swatches and looks will be done in daylight (hopefully there won’t be too much of a noticeable difference)!
