Benefit All-Star Kits

Benefit is on a roll with their new boxed makeup palettes… first, the World Famous Neutrals and now these three adorable Benefit All Star Kits ($32 USD / $36 CAD), each including 5-6 deluxe size mini’s of Benefit’s best-selling products.  These kits will be available in January 2013 exclusively at Sephora!

Each palette is focused around a different theme, Do The Bright Thing is all about the best complexion brighteners, The Bronze of Champions is a total bronzing kit for face, eyes and lips and Primping With The Stars has all the greatest fake-it’s in one spot. Each palette also has the signature Benefit Tips & Tricks How-To Cards (which are detachable, if you don’t want to keep them).

Just like the World Famous Neutrals kits, these palettes have removable inserts, so after you’re done with the products, you can re-purpose the adorable boxes into keepsake, gift or jewelry boxes! Keep this up Benefit- it’s such a great idea.

Do The Bright Thing

The Do The Bright Thing kit includes deluxe minis of “That Gal”, Dandelion, High Beam, BADgal Waterproof Eyeliner & They’re Real! mascara. I’ve personally never been a huge fan of “That Gal” just because of the smell, but I know that a lot of people love it. High Beam is an all-time favorite of mine, and it was nice to be able to try the BADgal eyeliner for the first time.

This kit was designed to be the brightening complexion kit- with all the tools you need for a glowy, ethereal look. I think it’s pretty well put together, however I’ve never really been a fan of Dandelion (it just doesn’t do much for me) and I think a brightening creaseless cream shadow would have fit better than the black eyeliner. If you want to try some of these products out, I think it’s a great way to try them… but it’s not my favorite kit out of the three (it also only contains 5 products while the other two each contain 6).

RATING: B+

The Bronze of Champions

The Bronze of Champions kit includes deluxe minis of Watt’s Up, Creaseless Cream Shadow in Bikini-tini, Longwear Powder Eyeshadow in Thanks A Latte, Hoola Powder, Hoola Lip Gloss & They’re Real! mascara. The two eye products were both in the World Famous Neutrals kits, so keep that in mind if you were planning on picking up one (or more) of them as well.

This kit was designed to be the faux tanning kit for the bronze-aholics. Perfect for getting into Spring, or even if you want to give a little warmth to your Winter-y complexion, I’m definitely a fan of this kit. Hoola is one of my all-time favorite bronzers, and I do love the lipgloss and eye products. I’m a little confused as to why Watt’s Up was included instead of Sun Beam, the bronzy champagne highlighter launched last year (I think it would be much better suited for the palette).

Primping With The Stars

The Primping With The Stars kit includes deluxe minis of Stay Don’t Stray, The Porefessional, Some Kind-a Gorgeous in Medium, Benetint, Girl Meets Pearl & They’re Real! mascara. Benefit is always putting together these cute complexion fix-it kits, and I think this is a nice all-round one (for someone that doesn’t need much fixing). If you’re really looking for a good complexion perfecting kit, check out the How To Look The Best At Everything kits- they’re awesome.

Stay Don’t Stray can double up as a concealer and Some Kind-a Gorgeous is one of my favorite quick & easy complexion perfectors. The Porefessional works wonders on pores and Benetint is one of the brands cult classic products. Overall its a good kit, but like I said, you won’t be finding perfected complexions here- it’s good for a quick weekend face or post-gym touch ups.

Summary

  • Price: $32 USD / $36 CAD each
  • Availability: Sephora (January 2013)
  • Overall: These three kits are adorable (as usual, from Benefit) but also pretty functional. The Bronze of Champions and Primping with The Stars are my favorite kits (and more of them) while Do The Bright Thing is good, but it’s not really a “full face” kit- and it contains less product.  These kits aren’t going to give you a full-on glamour look, but they’re great for little touch-ups or weekend makeup.
  • Rating: A- (Overall, individual products rated above)
