Bite Beauty has been on a roll recently, with its new Agave Lip Balm and Scrub, and its first-ever lip pencils. The Toronto-based brand isn’t slowing down just yet: It’s now adding six new Prismatic Pearl Crème Gloss shades to the lineup.
A trip to Tahiti sparked the idea for founder Susanne Langmuir, when she spotted the multidimensional hues of rare black pearls. It’s not the brand’s first foray into shimmers— there’s already the best-selling Crème Lip Gloss in Gold (we featured it here around the holidays)—but the expansion timing feels just-right now that metallic makeup is trending in a big way.
The glosses come in a clear plastic tube, which lets the intense, shifting shade inside shine through. Under the signature matte black lid, the applicator has a soft sponge tip bent at a slight angle to make it a little more ergonomic.
The new shades are Rose Pearl (fuchsia with a hint of orange), Champagne Pearl (muted copper), Pink Pearl (soft rose), Bronze Pearl (deep brown), Oyster Pearl (cool pink with blue flecks) and Peacock Pearl (dark purple-to-green shift).
Each colour is packed with shimmer, but they never feel even remotely gritty (thank the formula’s fruit butters and oils for that). Instead, they feel surprisingly hydrating, with only a slight bit of that sticky gloss feeling. Plus, the fruity scent is absolutely addictive (it sort of reminds us of a tropical cocktail).
You can wear them on their own, or layer over your favourite lipstick. I’m loving Champagne Pearl because its pared-down tone balances out the striking metallic finish.
That said, Peacock Pearl is seriously mesmerizing—its mix of purple-blue-green shimmer reminds me of Urban Decay’s classic Bruise Nail Color. It looks super chic and edgy on top of a dark lipstick (in a sort of mermaid-esque way)—I’ll definitely try it next time I have a fun night out.
Bite Beauty Prismatic Pearl Crème Lip Glosses retail for $22 each and are available now online at sephora.com.
