Today we’re taking a quick trip to Mumbai… or at least it feels like it with the new Sephora by OPI Indian Summer Collection ($9.50 USD / $12 CAD each)! These breathtaking jewel tones are inspired by the bold, colourful hues of India. The names also play up on the Indian theme, as do all Sephora by OPI shades (every OPI shade in general is really a pun of some sort). I have four out of the collection, six beautiful shades in total (the remaining two are What Aura Gonna Wear? and Paisley Attention To Me, see them all here.)

Sephora by OPI Indian Summer Collection for Summer 2012
Sephora by OPI is usually a fairly good and consistent formula, however I’ve never been much of a fan of the packaging. In particular, the brushes I find to be too large for my petite fingers. I have to pay extra attention to the process, and I usually end up cleaning up more than usual. The polishes are usually quite pigmented, usually requiring 2 coats (3 if its a glitter polish) for complete coverage. They wear about 4-5 days without chipping (with a top coat) and best of all come in a wide variety of shades and textures.
The four shades that I have been dazzling my tips with lately are:
- Looks Like Rain, Dear: A light, yellow gold with large and fine chunks of glitter. I really love this shade, but it’s a little much for all the nails. It’s also too opaque to really wear on top of another shade but not quite opaque enough to pass with 2 coats. It’s really pretty and reminds me of sand a bit. Definitely accent nail material.
- Henna-thing Is Possible: This metallic fuchsia is really beautiful! It’s a little more on the purple side of fuchsia, but has a pink reflection to it. Nicely pigmented (usually metallic formulas are), but probably quite dupable in a different brand.
- I’m So Sari!: My absolute favorite shade in the whole collection! It’s just so stunned! An opaque turquoise blue with iridescent glitter… all eyes are on this one. It’s quite flashy, but totally pool-party ready.
- Seriously, It’s a Naan-Issue: A deep, opaque purple cream shade. It was nice to see some variety in texture and shade with this color, being darker and without shimmer. It’s a gorgeous deep, vampy purple that I can totally see for summer nights.

Quick Tip For Pesky Blisters
As a general rule of life, the cuter the shoes, the more painful they are. My shoe closet is full of high heels that cause blisters before I even step out the door… but I still wear them. I also remember when I attended New York Fashion Week and went through a whole box of bandaids in 9 days! I wish I would have had these Elastoplast SOS Blister patches ($5.99 – $6.99 CAD)… available in both small (for toes) and large (for heels), these prevent blisters like no other! Plus they come in a cute travel case that I keep in my purse..so as soon as I feel rubbing- I pull one of these out and the problem is solved!

Things that match brighten my day… matching dishes, matching clothing hangers, matching furniture….matching makeup? The latest MAC Fashion Sets Collection for Summer 2012 is all about matching lipstick, lipgloss and nail polish in top selling shades from around the world! There are four different world collections (North America, Asia Pacific, Europe & Africa and Latin America & Middle East), each with seven top-selling, color-coordinating trios. Some of the world collections contain some of the same shades and some different ones. To see a full list of all the shades and which world collection they belong to, click here.
Usually I review collections by product category… but since I only have two shade sets to show you- I thought I would do it by color instead this time.

MAC Fashion Sets Collection for Summer 2012
Russian Red
Russian Red is a staple for so many people. It is the #1 selling lipstick in Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Singapore and Venezuela. This bluish-red is better described as “the perfect red lip”. Not too cool, not too warm, not too deep, incredibly rich… it’s the first shade I recommend when a red lip recommendation is requested.

Nothing makes a woman feel more powerful, beautiful and confident than red lips and high heels. Sometimes, I’ll throw on some red lipstick just to boost my mood when I’m at home alone (seriously, try it- you’ll feel awesome)! This look is an ode to “the red lip”, Russian Red, one of the most famous in all the world (in fact, it’s MAC’s #1 selling lipstick in 8 countries- check out my full review here).
I like to pair red lips with a super simple eye.. some black eyeliner, tons of mascara, and that’s really it. This true classic will never go out of style.
