Bobbi Brown Desert Twilight Bronzer/Blush Duo Review, Photos & Swatches

Bobbi Brown Desert Twilight Bronzer / Blush Duo

Two of my favorite products in the world happen to be Bobbi Brown’s bronzing powders and blushes…so I was so excited to see these gorgeous Bobbi Brown Bronzer/Blush Duo ($36 USD / $33 CAD) pop up in the recent Bobbi Brown Desert Twilight Collection for Fall 2012.

The entire collection really emphasizes beautiful sun-swept nudes and rosy bronze tones.  This compact, which is the size of Bobbi’s regular bronzing powders, contains two products to get that gorgeous, late-summer glow this fall.

I have to start off by saying I was quite confused to first read the label; I’m not sure if it is a mistake or if I’m just not getting it… but the label states the compact contains Bahama Brown Shimmer Blush, and Pink Peony Illuminating Bronzer. When you think about it, the “brown” shade should be the illuminating bronzer, and the “pink” shade should be the blush. So for this review I’m going to be referring to the bronzer as “Bahama Brown” and the blush as “Pink Peony”. If that is a mistake, I apologize (I’m waiting to hear back from Bobbi Brown for the official word), but let’s just go with common sense.

It’s the size of a regular Bobbi Brown bronzing powder!

Bahama Brown is a really beautiful rosy bronze shade; it reminds me of Benefit Dallas, with that pink undertone.  It gives a very unique bronzed look- one that I love very much. It’s that warmth you get from being in the sun… bronze, with a hint of pink. It’s definitely not the bronzer to use to contour, especially because it also has shimmer in it, but sweep it over the high points of your face for a stunning end-of-summer glow.

Pink Peony is a beautiful pop of bright pink. Used in combination with the bronzer, this shade gives such a gorgeous healthy glow to the complexion! I’ve always been a fan of Bobbi’s blushes, and even if it looks really bright and intimidating in the pan, using it lightly and building until you get that desired flush is really easy.

My only real gripe about the compact is that I wish one of the two shades wasn’t shimmery. Yes, we want an illuminating glow, but I hardly ever where a shimmery bronzer and shimmery blush at once… It’s similar to not wearing shimmer all over the lid (I like mixing shimmers and mattes); I just find it’s more flattering.  I’d much prefer to see a matte bronzer with a shimmer blush in this compact.

Whether you’re saving room in your makeup bag, trying out two products for the price of one or need a great multi-tasking compact for traveling, this one has my (glossy) kiss of approval!

  • Price: $36 USD / $33 CAD for 2 x 0.17 oz / 4.8g (Not sure if its a mistake on Sephora or not, but it’s actually cheaper in the Canadian checkout! Sweet)
  • Availability: Sephora and other various Bobbi Brown retailers
  • Selection: Check out the full collection here
  • Overall: This compact combines two of my favorite products from Bobbi into one, so I’m definitely loving it! The labeling is a bit confusing, but basically the bronzer has a really beautiful rosy undertone and the pink is bold, but can be worn softly for a gorgeous pop of color. I do wish that one of the two shades was matte though, as I prefer to mix textures when wearing them together.
