What’s harder—finding your soulmate on Tinder, or discovering a long-wear eye liner that won’t let you down? Some days, it seems like the latter is by far the most elusive, until we met the new Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Waterproof Liner ($32).
We already loved the brand’s original gel liner—it really stays put—but its pot format can be difficult to apply, especially along the waterline. The new pencil is a twist-up, which we love because you can draw it straight on without a brush, plus, unlike a traditional pencil, you never need a sharpener. It still gives the look of a gel eyeliner with amazing definition and rich colour payoff, but just in a bit more of a convenient way.
The formula is made with less oil than your average liner, so that it won’t smudge or transfer throughout the day. During development, the brand tested it in super-humid climates to make sure it could stand the heat.
After testing it out ourselves, we can confirm it’s one of the longest-lasting eyeliners we’ve ever come across. It doesn’t smudge, flake, transfer or fade—so make sure you’re armed with a heavy duty cleansing oil or waterproof eye makeup remover to take it off at the end of the day.

You might think that less oil would make the pencil drag when you apply it, but there are just enough waxes to help it glide smoothly (super important for delicate areas like the waterline) and to make sure it delivers strong pigment payoff. We recommend giving it a “warm up” sweep on the back of your hand before going to your lashline—and only twist up a small amount at a time to prevent the tip from breaking off.
The liner comes in eight shades, half of which are neutral (black, two browns, and grey), and the other half, more playful (purple, green and two blues). So, whether you’re a classic type or you crave a bit of colour, your search for “the one” ends here.
