I’ve been wearing this Bobbi Brown Natural Finish Long Lasting SPF 15 Foundation ($46 USD / $55 CDN) for about six months now, and I’ve been getting a lot of questions about if I still like it, if I’m still using it, etc. So, even though I have an old review & video demo on it (which I will link below)… I thought I’d feature it again and go over why I keep repurchasing it!

The Packaging

This foundation comes in a 1oz glass bottle, typical of most liquid foundations, with a pump top applicator (thank goodness)!  The pump dispenses enough product for a full face application, but I usually go back with about another half-pump and add it to areas that need a bit more coverage.  The frosted glass allows you to see through the bottle to see the shade of the product, but don’t let this fool you- it always looks full! I ran out without realizing it, because I had no idea I was even running low.  The cap comes off and on with ease, but not easily enough that it comes off in my makeup bag.  It does however, get very…very messy.

The Product

This foundation replaced Bobbi’s discontinued Oil-Free Finish Foundation, and promises all-day-wear with a soft-matte finish.  It’s a light-to-medium coverage foundation, but one of the things I love about it is how buildable it is.  I love having a light coverage foundation all over, and building where I feel necessary, because it leaves a much more natural appearance to the skin.  I like to apply this foundation with a Sigma F80 Flat Top Synthetic Kabuki brush.

Even though it is oil-absorbing and long lasting, my dry-combination skin still loves it just as much in the winter as it did in the summer when it is more oily-combination.  I don’t set it with powder, because I just don’t feel I need to (I do however usually wear a foundation primer, such as the Bare Escentuals Prime Time).  It’s quite transfer resistant, unless you’re wearing a white shirt and you rub your face on it…I mean really, there’s not much in this world that won’t show then, but for your average daily wear it doesn’t seem to budge or melt or move.  Basically, I can trust this foundation to do its job and look good while doing it.

The price tag is staggering because it is a Bobbi Brown product… and I honestly never thought I’d catch myself paying so much for a single makeup product. However, my philosophy is that if I’m going to splurge on one item, it’s going to be foundation.  If your foundation looks bad, oxidizes, slides off, etc. then all your makeup is going to look bad.  As well, I do believe that foundation is one makeup item that holds true to the saying “you get what you pay for” (to a certain extent, of course).  The shade range is wonderful, however you must keep in mind that while Bobbi does believe everyone has yellow undertones, if you feel like you need a more “pink” toned foundation, look at the shades that begin with “cool” as they are more neutral and not-so-yellow.  You’ll find your complexion looks a lot better and less pink with a tiny bit of color correction.

• Overall: My favorite foundation (and has been for many months now)- I repurchase it because it does exactly what it says and looks fantastic while doing so.  Oil-free and oil-controlling, comfortable, light-to-medium coverage, 8-hour wear (at least), buildable yet natural looking. Great for all skin tones and doesn’t need powder to set (maybe if you are really oily you would prefer so). The price is hard to swallow, but worth it to me.
