I was totally intrigued when I first saw the Buxom Stick Around Eye Primer ($20 USD / $25 CAD), a twist-up stick formulated to keep eyeshadows looking brilliant and crease-free all day. I had never seen an eye primer like this before, so I knew I had to try it!

I was expecting this product to be similar in texture to a NYX Jumbo Pencil, or a cream eyeshadow… but it’s not at all. It’s a very hard, solid balm that doesn’t really apply evenly. I found it went on patchy (at least that’s what I thought… it was totally invisible, so I couldn’t really see where it was going).

I thought it was going to have a yellowish or nude tint, but not at all (hence why I didn’t even bother to do swatches).  I sort of just drew it all over my eyelid, then rubbed my finger around, hoping that I covered it evenly.

Despite the application being a little frustrating, it definitely worked at keeping my lids crease-free all day.  I like the fact it is a twist-up, which means less product waste, but I was just so turned off by the texture and difficulty of applying it, I think this one isn’t going to get much love- there are other primers out there that work just as well without the trouble.

Sorry Buxom! Not a fan of this one.
