The Chanel Superstition de Chanel Collection for Fall 2013 includes the Chanel Le Volume Mascara ($30 USD / $36 CAD) in Khaki Bronze, a stunning deep khaki brown shade. This limited-edition collection mixes sumptuous tones of bronze, taupe and khaki with the magic of a golden beige, intense pink or burgundy palette. Available online now and on counters August 2013.
This mascara comes in the typical all-black Le Volume Mascara packaging with a plastic-bristle brush. The formula is incredibly thick- it reminds me a lot of the YSL Faux Cils Shocking formula (although not nearly as clump-prone)- and tons of it stays on the brush… so it’s great for those who love to pile on the mascara!
This particular shade is quite interesting. When looking at the brush, the formula looks quite light and green- which made me a little hesitant! However, on the eyes, it actually defines the lashes quite nicely and has a noticeable green tint. Most tinted mascaras are only really visible in certain lighting, but this one definitely looks khaki.
While the final effect is quite nice, it’s not my favorite for the application process. The bristles just feel way too short, so I don’t feel like I can really “get in there” and define the lashes separately. The good news is that it does have a great volumizing effect that holds curl pretty well and lasts all day without smudging or flaking. It’s also quite easy to remove.
Khaki Bronze is quite a unique shade for mascara- I’ve definitely never seen anything quite like it! If you’re loving the shade, then you might want to pick it up before it disappears!
