The Chanel Superstition de Chanel Collection for Fall 2013 includes two Chanel Ombre Essentielle ($28.50 USD / $34 CAD), including this gorgeous muted lavender shade in Hasard. This limited-edition collection mixes sumptuous tones of bronze, taupe and khaki with the magic of a golden beige, intense pink or burgundy palette. Available online now and on counters August 2013.
This eyeshadow is limited edition and comes in the standard Ombre Essentielle compact with an interior mirror and sponge tip applicator. There is quite a bit of excess packaging for such a small eyeshadow, which I don’t particularly like but is quite common with luxury brands.
Hasard is a beautiful muted lavender shade with a satin texture. There is no shimmer, but it has a glow to it. The product is very soft and smooth, but it isn’t really as pigmented as you would expect for an eyeshadow of this depth. I’d say it has a sheer to medium, yet buildable coverage which works well for a soft wash of color all over the lid, or contouring in the crease. It’s definitely not a bold, striking color as I was expecting- but it’s still beautiful, but I really do wish it would have been a little more intense so it could be more versatile.
While value is something that is very subjective, and usually something I don’t comment on, I really feel that when it comes to Ombre Essentielle eyeshadows, you really have to love the color because you are paying so much for only one shade.
