Along with Avant Première Collection, Chanel will be releasing their new “Healthy Glow Sheer Powder”, Les Bieges ($60 CAD). The new formulation will be available in seven, sheer shades, packaged in an exclusive inverted-color case. Each powder offers SPF 15 / PA++ and is designed to imitate the ‘glow’ attained by a walk outdoors.
The gorgeous compact is a first of its kind- the classic Chanel logo becomes black on top of a creamy, nude case. It looks incredibly elegant and I love how it’s easy to spot in a pile of Chanel compacts that all look the same. The powder comes with a half-moon brush, curved to contour the powder in the case and the face as its applied. The brush was designed for the ultimate in simplicity- to be able to apply the powder with your eyes closed, was the desired result.
I have shades No.30 & No.40 to show you today- two shades that I normally wouldn’t think would ever suit my skintone (my skintone would usually be No.20), however because it’s so sheer, both of them can work. It really is that sheer. The shade ranges from No.10 to No.70 and the undertones are designed to complement Caucasian and Asian skin tones (but really, if I can pull off No.40, they are quite flexible).
The powder is ultra velvety… so smooth, it almost feels like a cream when you glide your finger across it. It’s truly one of the most luxurious pressed powders I’ve felt. Chanel claims that this powder gives your skin a healthy look with a natural glow… similar claims to the NARS Light Reflecting Powder, although the texture is very different. The effect is pretty much the same- the powder is basically invisible on the skin and it takes away oil and shine while still letting skin look hydrated and glowing. There’s no shimmer- it’s just a very natural look.
The powder is quite fragranced, which I’m not a fan of, but it’s a nice fragrance and it dissipates quickly once on the skin, so it isn’t too concerning (it just smells a bit strong when I apply it). It’s comfortable, non-drying and works well to set foundation or just wear on its own. It’s not going to set off fireworks and blow your mind- it’s just a setting powder- but it will definitely leave you looking like you have a natural, lit-from-within glow.
