The Chanel Avant Première de Chanel Collection for Spring 2013 includes six Chanel Rouge Coco Lipsticks ($34 USD / $39 CAD), in classic, feminine shades. All six shades are joining the permanent Rouge Coco range. Available April 15, 2013, the collection pays tribute to the fragile grace of movie icons in a palette of half shades.
I have two of the six new lipsticks to show you today. These lip colors have the same classic Chanel Rouge Coco packaging, with a square, gold tube and black cap. The bullet has the “Chanel” name engraved into the actual lipstick and has a tapered, round tip.
The two shades I have include Sentiment (a mid-tone, neutral brown) and Liaison (a soft, mid-tone pink). These lip colors have medium, buildable coverage with a satin sheen finish. The feel really smooth and creamy on the lips, and have quite good staying power. They aren’t the most hydrating lip colors I’ve ever used, but they don’t feel overly drying either.
I love how the color really smoothes out the lips; it doesn’t settle into the lip lines, nor does it migrate or bleed over the lip line. They feel quite light on the lips, almost like a mousse-texture. They have a bit of fragrance to them- it’s that perfume-y, “Chanel” smell that most of the Chanel products have. I think they are great, everyday lipsticks and a lovely luxury as well. These shades are both classic, elegant and wearable! I particularly love Liaison- it’s just such a beautiful, soft pink that is perfect for Spring (and all year round, really).
While I do prefer the texture and feel of the Rouge Coco Shine Lipsticks, which are more light and glossy, these ones have better pigmentation and longevity.
