Chanel Style Yeux Waterproof Eyeliners

The Chanel Printemps Précieux Collection for Spring 2013 includes three Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Eyeliners ($30 USD / $29 CAD) including these two limited-edition shades shown here.  This collection combines playful shades with natural elegance and is available now at Chanel counters!

The two eyeliner shades shown here are both limited-edition for the Spring 2013 collection, while the third shade in Santal is in the permanent line. These retractable eyeliners are water- and humidity-resistant with a long-wearing formula and ultra slim design.

The shades I have here include Or Rose, a shimmery rose gold, and Béryl, a frosty pale lavender. Because they are both so pale, I feel like they are best suited for the waterline to brighten the eyes, as they look a little odd on the upper lashline (too light to define and not bold enough for a pop of color). Or Rose is incredibly shimmery, and the rose gold shade looks a little odd on the waterline, as if it’s wet. It almost makes me look like my eyes are tearing up… so, that’s not cute.

I do like Béryl a lot more than Or Rose… the pale lavender shade has an interesting, brightening effect on the waterline, and it has more of a light-reflecting frost than a sparkly shimmer… so it looks more natural. The purple tint may not suit all skintones, but I feel like it brightens the whites of my eyes quite a bit, so I do like that.

These aren’t the creamiest eyeliners out there- I found they had a bit of tugging and pulling as I applied (I really had to warm them up on the back of my hand before applying to my eye area). They also didn’t feel comfortable on my waterline… my eyes felt dry and slightly irritated, so unfortunately I just wasn’t in love with the formula.

They are very long-wearing though…once they set (which doesn’t take long), they really stay put. The pigmentation is fairly decent, but because they are so pale, that didn’t really say much for them. I probably would love the formula for a black eyeliner… but these pale shades just didn’t do it for me.

Not exactly colours I would go for and I do prefer creamier liners because I don’t like pulling to much around my eye.

After reading your review, I think I would only consider buying Béryl because it does look very pretty but it sucks to hear that they’re nothing to brag about :(

The shades although light, still look super pretty. I also perfer more creamy eyeliners, they’re a lot easier to work with.

The eboné (black) is gorgeous and I love it! I picked it up at a Duty Free shop when I was in the States last – definitely worth it!

The shade Or Rose would be very pretty for an eyeshadow, wouldn’t it? And I saw Lisa Eldridge do a look with the lavender one on the waterline and it really brightens the eyes a lot!

Yes I saw her video as well and knew I had to get Beryl I absolutly love it even more than the or rose that I already had bought. It does really bright the eyes!
