The Chanel L’Éte Papillon de Chanel Collection for Summer 2013 features the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick in Pygmalion ($34 USD / $39 CAD), a watermelon pink shade. This limited-edition collection features bright, vibrant shades inspired by the colors of fluttering butterflies. The collection is available online now and will be on counters May 13, 2013; you can follow along with my coverage of the collection here!
Rouge Coco Shine Lipsticks are the ultimate on-the-go formula- they glide on with ease and have a sheer-to-medium coverage finish so they are quite fool proof to apply. The gorgeous shine allows you to swipe it on and go, with color, gloss and moisture all in one tube. The bullet has a flat, angled tip and is slightly skinnier than the regular Rouge Coco Lipsticks.
This fun watermelon pink shade looks quite bright and bold in the tube, but it really goes on the lips with a more subtle tone and a little more on the sheer side. It feels light and comfortable on the lips, however it doesn’t last as long as most other lipsticks. I usually get about 3 hours of wear time with this formula before it starts to fade, but the formula makes touch-ups easy. A great shade that’s worth looking into before it’s gone- perfect for a soft kiss of color for summer.
The lipstick has a slightly floral scent, but it’s not overpowering at all. Because of the glossy texture, the color can go on a bit patchy if you try to build it too much, so what you see is typically what you get with these lipsticks. A classic tube with a modern, chic formula- one of my favorites!
