China Glaze Glitz- Bitz ‘N Pieces Collection for Spring 2013

The China Glaze Glitz- Bitz ‘N Pieces Collection for Spring 2013 includes six China Glaze Nail Lacquers ($7 USD / $8 CAD) in a variety of chunky glitter colors, each with China Glaze’s “Bitz ‘N Pieces” (essentially black bits of glitter and confetti). This limited edition collection will be available in March 2013.

When it comes to Spring nail polishes, these aren’t exactly the types of shades that come to mind.  While personally I prefer bright shades and pale pastels, I know that this chunky bits of glitter nail art trend is (kinda) happening… so I wanted to give them a fair shot. The polishes come with silver bottle handles, which is different from the classic black packaging.

The shades include

  • Mosaic Madness: Deep blue gitter with black Bitz ‘N Pieces
  • Glitz & Pieces: Chunky silver glitter with black Bitz ‘N Pieces
  • Graffiti Glitter: Bold emerald green glitter with black Bitz ‘N Pieces
  • Bling It On: Royal purple glitter with black Bitz ‘N Pieces
  • Scattered & Tattered: Luscious red glitter with black Bitz ‘N Pieces
  • Razzle Me, Dazzle Me: Pink glitter with black Bitz ‘N Pieces (ummmm what? I don’t see any pink glitter…)

To be honest, my hopes weren’t to high for these polishes because not only am I not a fan of the look, but I haven’t had good luck with chunky glitters either way. However, I do have to admit… these are much easier to work with than the OPI Disney’s Oz The Great and Powerful jelly glitters- at least these confetti pieces lay flat and the bottle is saturated with enough of them that only one coat is needed.

They can be worn alone, or on top of another color (which I prefer, because it adds a nice contrast). I found the glitter easier to spread and place strategically (without having to dig for tweezers), so if you’re a fan of this look or this type of nail art… then you’ll like these.

My favorite ones were Bling It On and Glitz & Pieces; I found they were the easiest to apply. Others were a little too chunky, like Razzle Me, Dazzle Me, which had too many chunks and I found it just didn’t look nice when applied (also, what’s up with the ‘official’ description- I don’t see pink glitter in there anywhere).
