As much as the beautiful weather happening today and colourful accessories popping up in my favorite stores makes me want to believe it’s spring time, unfortunately, my skin isn’t agreeing just yet.  It’s still craving the Cover FX SkinPrep FX Nourishing Foundation Primer & Anti-Aging Serum ($45, available at Sephora) to get it prepared for it’s daily dose of makeup.

The Packaging

This liquid gold (okay, not literally) comes packaged nicely in this sleek oblong squeeze-tube (a nice little updated look from the previous tube might I add)! It fits nicely into my makeup bag, doesn’t leak and I can dispense just as much as I want. Perfect.

The Product

This product is really a two-in-one.  It is not only a soothing and hydrating foundation primer, but it is also an anti-aging skincare serum.  It’s so nourishing, I actually look forward to this step most in my beauty routine because it feels so lovely!  I use it as a primer, because it smoothes out my skin, plumps it up and blurs any pores or fine lines. My makeup goes on so smoothly and really holds on longer.  I would definitely use it as a night serum as well as it is suggested, but because of the steep price tag, I try to ration it as much as possible. It has an interesting smell, one that isn’t offensive but isn’t particularly sweet or fruity.  It’s really unlike most primers I’ve ever tried because it really is the texture of a serum.  I like to use it in colder months to really keep my complexion fresh and hydrated- so it’s great for normal to dry skin.  I don’t use it so much in the summer (nor would I really recommend it for very oily skintones) because then I prefer a more oil-absorbing or mattifying primer.
