The Dior Birds of Paradise Collection for Summer 2013 features the Dior Diorskin Nude Tan BB Creme ($44 USD / $45 CAD), available in two shades, 001 (shown here) and 002. This limited-edition tropical couture collection features exotic colors inspired by the legendary bird of paradise. The collection is available now; follow along with my coverage of the collection here!
Dior recently launched the Diorskin Nude BB Creme as a permanent addition to their range, however for summer they decided to bronze it up a bit in this limited-edition formula. It comes in a very similar packaging, however it is slightly darker with a bronze colored tube, and has the same pump dispenser for the product.
This product is meant to have the ease and benefits of a BB Cream with the tanning effect of a bronzer. I was pretty excited for it, since my face is usually the first to lose its color in the summer, and I thought this BB Creme might be a great way to keep an even-looking tan… unfortunately, for my light skin, it just doesn’t work. It basically looks like I’m using a foundation that is too dark for me, so even though it does ‘warm’ up my complexion… it doesn’t look natural (especially with my pale hairline and ears). Even in the lightest shade, 001, it didn’t make me look bronzed and tanned at all.
The product itself does feel awesome though… the coverage is beautiful and helps correct any imperfections while applying smoothly. It has a nice velvety finish, feels light and hydrates my skin.
I’m definitely going to give it a try after getting some sun this summer, hopefully it will look better with a base color already- plus the formula actually contains a molecule of enhancing and prolonging a real tan… so I’ll definitely give it another go this summer and keep you posted.
I’m not going to grade this product yet, just because the fact it wasn’t a good shade for me shouldn’t have an impact on it’s quality rating, however in case there are any of you out there with a light skintone like me, thinking this BB Cream is going to help give you a bit of a glow… stick to a self-tanner.
