If you’ve ever watched Say Yes to the Dress, you’ve probably also dreamed of walking down the aisle in a couture creation by a famous designer like Monique Lhuillier. Known for her gorgeous gowns replete with romantic details, Lhuillier is now proving her colour chops, too, with a nail polish collaboration with Essie.
Essie Gel Couture Bridal Collection by Monique Llhuillier comprises six shades of the brand’s gel-like formula, which promises up to 14 days of high-shine wear. Given that the inspiration for Gel Couture, which launched last spring, was all about fashion, the collaboration seems especially fit for the Gel Couture line. The twisted shape of the bottle is meant to represent a twirling dress after all.
The wedding-ready lacquers themselves can easily be divided into two groups. Half of the hues are traditional barely-there hues, while the other half make more of a statement. On the soft side, there’s Lace to the Altar (sheer opalescent ivory), Dress is More (pinkish white), and Blush-worthy (pale pink with subtle gold shimmer). For brides wanting to show off a little colour, there’s Sage You Love Me (dusty green-grey), To Have & To Gold (antique gold), and Berry in Love (plum red).
Though we love the sweet, sheer tones in the collection, we picture the bold Berry in Love or intriguing Sage You Love Me looking particularly great gripping a bouquet. That said, these colours are all versatile enough for bridesmaids, guests, or even your regular work week. With Gel Couture’s amazing rounded-tip brush, application is so easy that we’ll definitely be turning to this collection for our next DIY mani.
Essie Gel Couture Bridal Collection by Monique Llhuillier will retail for $11.50 each and will be available at select retailers and online at ulta.com on April 18th.
