The Essie Fall 2013 Collection includes six Essie Nail Lacquers ($8 USD / $10 CAD) in cozy, chic shades for autumn. Basically, these are the nail polish version of your favorite knit sweater. This limited-edition collection is all about rich flannels, silk twill and cashmere colors that warm you up even as the weather begins to cool down (let’s hope that doesn’t happen for at least a few more months, please)! Available August 2013.
The shades include…
- For The Twill of It: Medium brown with duocrhome purple and green shimmer
- Vested Interest: Cool teal grey cream
- Twin Sweater Set: Vibrant crimson cream
- After School Boy Blazer: Deep, midnight blue cream
- The Lace Is On: Pearlescent fuchsia shimmer
- Cashmere Bathrobe: Flannel grey with sparkle
As much as I love the warm sunshine of summer, my favorite season in autumn. I love the cool breeze and cozy sweaters, so this collection has got me feeling all warm and cuddly inside! I love that Essie seasonal collections are only 6 pieces, because I really feel like they focus on quality rather than quantity, and I always love seeing the original, unique shades. I really don’t think I have anything in my collection like For The Twill of It, Chashmere Bathrobe or Vested Interest… so that gets me excited!
The quality is pretty consistent throughout, only requiring 2 coats for each polish to be opaque. The variety in texture is nice as well, and even though the standard brush-tip applicator isn’t my favorite (I prefer a wider brush), it still applies fairly nicely. They last about 2-3 days without chipping on me, which is the average for regular nail polish.
As stunning as For The Twill of It looks in the bottle, it’s a little disappointing on the nails- not that it’s a bad color, it just isn’t as beautiful on the nails as it is in the bottle (a pretty standard effect with duochrome polishes). I absolutely love Cashmere Bathrobe… the tiny bits of sparkle are perfect, and it’s definitely my favorite shade out of the entire collection.
A pretty decent collection overall- I love seeing unique shades with variety in texture, and this one really does remind my of cozy sweaters, bootie slippers and knit socks.

Essie does a lovely job creating a cozy nail polish collection with six unique shades and a variety in texture. The duochrome shade doesn't translate it's beauty onto the nails, but I don't really find that they ever do. I absolutely love Cashmere Bathrobe and Vested Interest... I think they are going to be fantastic must-have shades for fall.
