Raise your hand if, on winter’s wickedest days, you find yourself daydreaming of sunny destinations/stalking Google Flights like it’s your day job. (*Both hands way up.*) Until we catch a massive seat sale, the Essie Spring 2017 collection is serving up enough escapism to tide us over.
Taking inspiration from a road trip down California’s coast, the brand’s global colour designer (and fashion designer of her namesake line) Rebecca Minkoff presents six vibrant crème lacquers. The colours represent the gorgeous sites you’d spot along the drive, including the Pacific Ocean, cacti in the desert, and vivid pink sunsets.
The shades include (with clever names, of course)…
- Excuse Me, Sur: Light coral
- Backseat Besties: Pepto pink
- B’aha Moment!: Pinky pomegranate
- Designated DJ: Plum
- On the Roadie: Kelly green
- All the Wave: Royal blue
The pinks in this collection are perfect for ushering in the warmer weather, but, oddly enough, our favourite collection is the grassy On the Roadie. It’s different from anything else in our collection, and begs to be used in a fun nail-art look. It’s also the only way we’d dip into Greenery, Pantone’s declared colour for 2017.
We also love how these shades pair up for complementary mani/pedi duo. Our fave combo is Excuse Me, Sur on tips and All The Wave on toes—now all we need is for the weather to put on a pair of peep toe pumps!
Because these creamy hues are loaded with pigment, they’ll need a good shake before you apply. Also, you’ll want to work in thin coats and leave yourself plenty of drying time.
Which hue is calling your name for Spring?
The Essie Spring 2017 nail polishes retail for $10 each and will be available online at amazon.ca, and at salons and retailers beginning February 21.
