What’s Hot: Face Gloss

Face Gloss

We’ve been seeing glossy lids and cheekbones on the runway for several seasons now, but it seems as if the makeup trend isn’t just going mainstream, it’s the new strobing. Brands are starting to release face gloss formulas more than we’ve ever seen before (the products used to exist solely in professional makeup ranges) to create the intense, patent leather-like shine on skin.

The new formulas are longer lasting, a little more kind to skin than slapping plain old sticky clear lipgloss on and sometimes they have hints of pigment or shimmer for a unique effect. It takes the highlighting trend one step further beyond iridescent powders and metallic creams, so if you just can’t get enough glow, you’ll want to try this one out.

This is one makeup trend we can totally get on board with—when done right, glossy skin looks absolutely beautiful. The real trick is not to overdo it, or you’ll end up looking like a sticky, greasy mess. Be precise in your application and keep skin clean and matte elsewhere—a tad on the lids, a touch on the cheekbones, that’s it. The gloss gives an intense light reflection and super-hydrated look to the skin that is both etheral and youthful.
