5 Reasons Why You Need Fenty Beauty’s Stunna

Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint

It doesn’t happen often, but when a beauty product literally makes my jaw drop, I think it’s a pretty big deal—especially when it comes to something as common as a liquid lipstick. But that’s exactly what happened with the new Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint ($30). Love. At. First. Swipe.

The newest addition to Rihanna’s makeup line dropped last night online (at midnight EST, to be exact) and is in Sephora stores today. You’re going to want to jump on this quickly before it sells out because this is the one red liquid lipstick to rule them all.

Seriously—want to know how many times I’ve done an entire dedicated post to a single red lipstick? Never. Well, not until now. But this is important, so here are 5 reasons why you need it.

Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint

#1. It looks très fancy

I did a double take when I first took this liquid lipstick out of the packaging because I thought I was looking at a new launch from Christian Louboutin. The packaging feels super luxurious with its metallic, rose gold cap and how it stands up on its own. Sure, it’s a little big… but it’s worthy of leaving out on your vanity for its pretty factor alone.

#2. It applies like a dream

I meant it when I said it was love at first swipe—the formula applied like no other I’ve ever tried. It has an incredibly thin texture that glides on like a lip oil, instead of the traditional cream texture we see often with liquid lipsticks. The applicator has a very unique shape with it’s flat top, curved sides and precise edge, which was intuitive to use and actually made the application easier.

#3. It’s pigmented AF

This was the part that made my jaw drop. Despite being a very thin fluid, it packs such an intense punch of pigment I could cover nearly half my hand with a single dip. It reminded me of acrylic paint—probably not a coincidence with “Lip Paint” in its name—leaving behind full coverage colour with a single sweep. It’s actually quite magical.

#4. It looks amazing on everyone

I’m seriously hoping this is a preview of more shades to come, but for now the formula is only launching in one, universally-flattering red. Hand-picked by Rihanna and obsessively tested to ensure it looks great on everyone (which is basically the mission behind the entire makeup range in general). Uncensored is a rich, cool-toned red with a matte finish.

I’ve always been a fan of cool-toned reds because they give the illusion of whiter, brighter teeth and this shade does exactly that.  The press release says to shake it up before applying to activate the pigment for best performance—I’m not quite sure of the science behind this, but I’ll look into it and update once I know more about the formula’s technology.

#5. It feels like nothing at all

If the reasons above held true, yet it felt like it was sucking the life out of my lips, I’d probably still wear it. But the cherry on top of it all is that it’s actually THE MOST comfortable liquid lipstick I’ve ever tried. Once it dried, it felt so weightless I forgot I was even wearing it. Although I wouldn’t say it had a moisturizing effect, it definitely didn’t dry my lips out. I’ll post a picture here very soon wearing it on my lips!

It claims 12-hour wear that won’t budge or feather, even through eating or kissing, but I’d say that’s a tad generous. I did need a few touch-ups throughout the day, particularly on the inner part of my lips after eating (which is completely reasonable, in my opinion). Overall it has stellar performance, especially for how comfortable it feels.

I think I’ve made my point here.

Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint retails for $30 and is available now in store and online at sephora.ca.
