The second piece from the Giorgio Armani Écailles Collection for Summer 2012 (available in May) that I was able to test out was the Giorgio Armani Gloss d’Armani in 512 Red Andradite ($28 USD / $38 CDN at Holt Renfrew & other Giorgio Armani Beauty retailers). This stunning lipgloss was the first of the luxurious formula that I have tried, so let’s check out how my first experience was!
The packaging is simplistic and chic- exactly how I like it. Encased in a black box with simplistic detailing, the tube is simply stunning. The transparent tube reveals the luxe colour within, while a delicate silver Giorgio Armani logo sits right where the cap meets the tube. The applicator is an elongated doe-foot, a little skinnier than usual. I like the transition I’ve been seeing in high end glosses to an almost palette knife-like shape to really pave on colour.
The lipgloss is a deep wine shade, which can be a little confusing with “Red” in the title, yet being a class of Pinks. It’s the deepest shade out of four others, and I think it makes a fantastic evening shade. The formula is very pigmented… it’s almost like a liquid lipstick. Certainly not mistake proof, the gloss needs to be applied carefully. The formula itself is pure heaven- smooth and creamy, thick but not sticky (so it stays on your lips for a long time, while being super comfortable-wearing). It just feels like a truly glamorous lipgloss!
The gloss itself almost feels like a gel base, and it leaves lips with a gorgeous wet lacquered finish. The only thing that I wasn’t crazy about, was the scent. I’m not sure what it is…I really couldn’t put my finger on it exactly. It’s subtle, so it’s not a deal-breaker… but it just wasn’t one that I was particularly fond of.
