Hit List: Sun Kissed Bronzers

Published On March 5, 2012 | Articles

Believe it or not, bronzer was actually the last product that I ever started to incorporate into a daily beauty routine!  I wore blush, so I didn’t see the point of having to use bronzer as well.  That has totally changed now, and I just don’t feel put together if I’m not wearing bronzer! I have a few staples that I reach for…but it’s always fun to mix up textures and tones for a variety of different sunkissed looks.

Editor’s Pick: I’m crowning Benefit Dallas as my winner, because even though it’s not my daily bronzer, I just think the shade and texture is so unique! I’ve never found anything else like it, so it has claimed a permanent spot in my makeup bag. I love how I can use it for an all-over warm glow or as a blush!

I never understood the power of bronzer before YouTube. Actually, when I come to think about it, before I started watching make up videos on Youtube my make up routine was pretty much mascara and cheap, no-color-pay-off-at-all eyeshadows that weren’t worth my time. Two years later I’ve learned so much and my love for make up grew more than I thougth possible (also my wallet grew thinner and my make up box grew bigger). Bronzer was the least of my worries. As a pale freckled 20-year old I thought I could do blush but no way I could pull off bronzer. Let’s move on to a few months later and behold, I tried a matte bronzer (so that I could actually warm up my skin tone as well as contour if I felt like it) and every morning (when I get the time of course) I pop my Cargo matte bronzer on and I’m immeadiately more alive! It’s actually amazing what bronzer can do for you. I’d say that for a fresh look blush and bronzer make the most difference!

Ive been looking for a natural looking bronzer that still gives color, but itsnt too orange or sparkly. Do you have any suggestions?

Oh my gosh Jessica, you’ve done it again. First you got me with the Bobbi Brown bronzer and now I’ve been reaaally wanting the Benefit Dallas (not to mention the Bobbi Brown blush in Apricot…) since I watched your February Favorites video and saw how glowy and natural your cheeks looked!!

  • melodyy

I’ve been using Benefit’s Hoola for ages. I’m scared of the shimmery bronzers for my oily face :/

Bronzer is so incredibly versatile… you can use it for your lids, as a blush, and of course, to create a faux glow. I’m currently using a shade of powder foundation that matches my summer skin tone… I find that doing this creates the most believable shade ever! xoxo, Jasmine

Are there any bronzers for super pale skin as well? I’m a Bobbi Brown 00 alabastar and I always look muddy or orange…

Maybe you should try MAC Mineralized SkinFinish Natural, just a shade or 2 shades darker from your skintone.

Haven’t tried a bronzer before, because I’m like why bother but now I am actually thinking about giving it a go! Thanks Jessica :)

i’m super fair and looking for a bronzer, i’ve noticed a lot of the popular bronzers (nars laguna) seem to be far too dark for me, do you have any suggestions? thanks! (i am curious about the bobbi brown and the mac one, but sure for the very fair with pale blonde hair as well if they will be right or what to even look for to know if a bronzer would work for me, i just know that i dont’ care for shimmer) :o)

I’d recommend the Golden Light bronzer from Bobbi Brown!

Benefit Dallas is one of my favorite blushes! It’s actually the reason why I haven’t gotten Tarte’s amazonian clay blush in Exposed which I also really want. They are very similar although Tarte is a little bit more brown.
