There are two things in life that are always true: 1) you will always, without fail, wake up to a blemish on an important day and; 2) you will always, without fail, want all of Hourglass’ Holiday launches. Case in point: the new, limited-edition Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Volume 3 Palette ($95) and Hourglass Ambient Metallic Strobe Lighting Palette ($75). While it may not help with the former, it will certainly catch your eye and make you scream “take all my money!” while you’re anxiously adding it to your Sephora cart.
The last time Hourglass added to its already impressive roster of products, it launched not one but six blushes and bronzers (and, to be frank, it was hard not to purchase them all). Now, ahead of the holiday season (like way, way ahead—it’s barely Autumn Equinox, after all), the brand launches two palettes, each encased in festive mirrored packaging, that achieve that perfectly-lit glow that Hourglass is known for.
The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Volume 3 has three existing cult favourite powders—Dim Light, Diffused Light and Luminous Bronze Light—as well as three new ones—Surreal Halo, Pure Effect and Hypnotic Strobe Light—that are exclusive to this decadent-but-totally-worth-it package.
While you can never have too many of the classics, these new shades are admittedly what we’re the most interested in. Surreal Halo is a combination of a berry blush with the interwoven strands of Surreal Light running through it for a rich, holiday-perfect flush of illuminated colour. Pure Effect is a true petal pink that has a mix of shimmering rose gold highlighter for a glowy blush and Hypnotic Strobe Light is a pearlescent champagne illuminating powder that will make toasting any party that much better.
If you want to dial up the wattage for a blinding strobing effect, the Hourglass Ambient Metallic Strobe Lighting Palette has your name written all over it. The palette contains a trio of highlighting shades that deliver an “intense flash of light” in a velvety pearlescent-packed powder.
Whether you’re strobing wet or dry with these powders, each shade can create a customizable look on the high points of your face. Absolute Strobe Light has a light pink champagne feel while Pure Strobe Light is a true gold highlight. Lastly, Lucent Strobe Light is a bronzey rose gold for a bit more depth of colour.
The result is a dramatic and totally amplified glowy finish thanks to the brand’s Photoluminescent Technology. Plus, it totally plays up on the metallic makeup trend we’ve been seeing for the fall season.
Encased in the brand’s signature packaging (that proves sometimes you can judge a book makeup palette by its cover), all nine shades between the two palettes offer options to brighten, liven, contour, diffuse and complete your look for a glowy, ethereal finish.
Good luck choosing one over the other.
The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Volume 3 Palette retails for $95 and the Hourglass Ambient Metallic Strobe Lighting Palette retails for $75. Both palettes are available now online at sephora.ca for a limited time only.shop this story
