Hourglass Nº28 Primer Serum

One of the most luxurious products I’ve come across has to be the Hourglass Nº28 Primer Serum ($65 USD / $75 CAD). With a hefty price tag, this anti-aging and hydrating primer & oil-blend serum plumps skin with moisture, evens out pores and preps skin for makeup.

The “28″ in the product name refers to the formula’s key ingredients, including essential oils, plant oils and vitamins. One thing is for sure, a little goes a long way with this product (half a pump will do you fine).  It’s incredibly hydrating; so much so that it’s probably one of the heaviest, oiliest things I’ve ever put on my face.

It feels fantastic and leaves my skin feeling silky soft, but I think I’m going to tuck this away until the cooler winter months, because giving an extra dose of oils to my skin isn’t exactly my top priority in the summer.  I haven’t broken out from the product, which seems like a miracle to me, but I would still only recommend it for those with normal to dry skin because it is so heavily moisturizing.

I would compare it to a heavier version of my beloved CoverFX SkinPrep FX.  It helps create a nice base for makeup to go on smoothly, but I’m not sure if it really helped my makeup to last longer throughout the day.

Just a tiny drop is all you need!

Very liquidy; more like the texture of a serum than a primer.

Summary

  • Price: $65 USD / $75 CAD for 30mL / 1oz
  • Availability: Sephora
  • Overall: A richly hydrating primer serum that is packed with oils and vitamins for skin.  Half a pump is more than enough for the entire face… I really recommend this for those with dry skin mainly because it does feel quite heavy.
  • Rating: B+
