How-To: Tropical Nail Art Manicure

Essie Tropical 194

Whether you’re headed somewhere warm for a mid-winter getaway or you just need to bring a little bit of the tropics to you, this gorgeous manicure will make you feel that warm, shining sun any time. Essie Global Lead Educator, Rita Remark, created this stunning nail art design using shades from the new Essie Spring 2016 Collection. The best part? It looks much more complicated than it actually is.

So grab a striping tool and a few new Essie shades and you’ll have a little piece of paradise in no time.

Start off with a clear base coat, like Essie First Base to ensure your manicure stays put. Next, apply two coats of High Class Affair, a gorgeous blushed nude.

Step 2: Grow Some Leaves

Using Pool Side Service, a gorgeous greyish blue, along with a striping brush, create the vines and leaves. Feel free to create your own leafy pattern, or use Rita’s palm leaf & exotic flower design as inspiration.

Step 3: Add Definition

To add definition to the greenery, use the same striping brush with Off Tropic, a lush grove green shade, and trace some of the lines you already created. Think of this shade as more of an accent color to enhance your design and give extra dimension to the look.

Step 4: Beautiful Blooms

Use the striping brush again to create the flower designs with the shade Lounge Lover, a bright coral pink. Rita chose the striping brush to intentionally create imperfect shapes. The vines have a long, tube-like flower while the palm leaves have a five-petal shape, similar to a star.

To finish off the design, Rita used a small amount of High Class Affair, the same peachy nude shade she used for the base, to create small dot in the middle of the flowers. Once again, she used a striping brush instead of a dotting tool to intentionally create an imperfect shape.
