Jack Black Lip Balm in Lemon & Chamomile

I’ve got a short & sweet review for you today on the Jack Black Lip Balm ($7.50 USD) shown here in Lemon & Chamomile.  I’ve heard so many people raving about this men’s lip balm in the beauty community, I had to give it a shot.

The Packaging

The lip balm comes in a deep blue-colored tube, reminiscent of a typical lip balm (like Carmex or something like that).  It’s small and pocket friendly, but I like that it’s also coloured so it doesn’t disappear in my handbag.  With a slant tip applicator, this balm’s packaging is pretty average- nothing bad, nothing great. It just works.

The Product

The lip balm is a thick, almost vaseline-like consistency (the primary ingredients are petrolatum and lanolin oil).  It was a slight yellowish tint to it, but is completely transparent on the lips.  The scent is really pleasant- I’m all for scented lip products as long as its not too fake or sweet, and this one is a perfect hint of lemon, almost like an herbal tea.  The formula itself is super moisturizing and repairing- when I’m doing tons of lip swatches in a day, I’ll use this in between each swatch to almost ‘repair’ my lips so they don’t get super chapped and sore.

I think it’s a good lip balm, but I feel like my beloved Korres Lip Butter Glaze in Jasmine is a little more feminine- it’s pretty looking, it’s scented like sweet jasmine and it repairs and heals my lips just as good while still leaving a glossy shine and hint of pale pink color.  In terms of effectiveness, I really find them both to be the same in moisturizing qualities, but I think I still prefer my Korres one more. However, this one is much cheaper, so if price is a factor- this is a sure fire winner.

Summary

  • Price: $7.50 USD for 0.2oz / 7g
  • Availability: Sephora
  • Selection: Available in Original Mint, Vanilla & Lavender, Grapefruit & Ginger, Black Tea & Blackberry and Lemon & Chamomile (shown here)
  • Overall: A great intensive therapy lip balm that smells amazing and is deep down moisturizing. I prefer my Korres Lip Butter Glaze over this one because of the slight tint and glossy shine that comes with the moisturizing properties, but this one is much more affordable, so it’s great to have a couple on hand in your purse, nightstand, etc.
