My red lipstick collection is steadily getting bigger (I think i’m subconsciously preparing for Spring trends) and the latest addition to my collection is the Julie Hewett Los Angeles Lipstick in Femme Noir ($25 CDN). Here are my thoughts!
The Packaging
The lipstick comes packaged in a chic black and white box (I always love simplicity). The gorgeous gold case looks so luxurious- I love the sculpting of it and now sleek it looks.
The Lipstick
This formula is a satin finish, with a slight sheen without being glossy. The pigmentation is out of the this world, and it feels so creamy on the lips. I’m not a fan of the scent though.
The color is a gorgeous classic red, not too orange, not too pink, but just right. Paired with some liquid eyeliner, it seriously completes the classic retro chic look that ever-so-popular. It claims to be a long lasting lipstick, however I didn’t find it held up to eating and drinking, which is normal, but I still had to test that out anyways.
At a price tag of $25, it’s tough to say its worth it…because I feel like its a comparable brand to MAC in terms of wear and quality of pigmentation (depending on the texture of course). It’s a great red lipstick, but I don’t think it’s life changing- so that can help determining it’s value when deciding on the price!
Summary
- Price: $25 CDN
- Availability: eBeauty.ca
- Overall: A great, highly pigmented lipstick with a gorgeous sheen. Fairly good wear, but nothing out of the ordinary for me. The high price tag makes me re-think this one though.
- Rating: B+
