Lancôme Holiday 2012 Color Collection

The Lancôme Happy Holidays Collection for Holiday 2012 includes a variety of gold eyeshadows, pigments, nail polishes and more. This limited-edition collection was inspired by the sparkling lights of Paris- precious gold hues and contemporary textures. I have a couple pieces from the collection to show today, but you can check out the entire collection online.

Please note that the shade names are different in the USA, however the numbers for the shades are the same.

First, the new Lancôme Petit Trésor ($25 USD / $39 CAD) eyeshadows are shimmery, luxurious and beautiful with their metallic, woven texture and shimmery compact. Created exclusively for this holiday collection, each eyeshadow leaves eyelids with a dazzling sparkle. I have the shade 207 Fil d’Argent, a stunning golden pewter-bronze.

These eyeshadows are wet/dry, so they can be applied wet for an opaque, liquid-metal effect. Even worn dry, they still have beautiful pigmentation and they are super silky to apply. The perfect compliment to your holiday outfit!  They are a luxurious addition, so that will affect the price of the single eyeshadow.

Next, the new Lancôme Les Paileettes Aux Yeux ($20 USD / $25 CAD) shimmering loose powder pigments can be used alone or on top of another eyeshadow. These pigments are formulated to apply directly to skin while minimizing fall-out for an easy application. I do find the pigment sticks better than most others, however I still recommend to at least prime lids before applying.

The shade in 10 À la Belle Étoile is a stunning peachy gold shade, however my biggest complaint is the packaging. The container has a small hole in the stopper, which makes it difficult to dispense without making a mess. I found I had to tap it out onto the back of my hand or into the lid, then use a brush to apply it. If the jar simply had a wide-mouth opening, I wouldn’t have to do so and it would be much less messy.

The last item I have from the collection is the Lancôme Vernis in Love ($15 USD / $16 CAD) in 532 Ginger Swing, a gorgeous antiqued pale gold. This shade is definitely one of my favorites for the holiday season- because it has a modern twist on the traditional golden hues for the holidays.

I’m already a huge fan of the nail lacquer formula- this one only needed 2 coats for an opaque finish and lasted 4 days on my nails without chipping! The texture was easy to apply- not too thin nor too thick- and the metallic finish dried quickly.

Summary

  • Price: $25 USD / $39 CAD for 0.04oz / 1g (Petit Trésor Eyeshadow), $20 USD / $25 CAD for 1.5g (Les Paillettes Aux Yeux Pigment) and $15 USD / $16 CAD for 6mL (Vernis in Love Nail Lacquer)
  • Availability: Lancôme
  • Overall: A very festive, sparkly collection for the holidays. Luxurious golden hues with a twist of modern elegance makes this collection a stunning set. The eyeshadow is beautiful and pigmented, however is a luxury piece for the price. I’m not too impressed with the packaging of the pigment, and even though it says it adheres to skin alone, I feel it’s still better off with a primer. I fell in love with the nail polish the most- with a gorgeous pewter gold shade that’s perfect for the holiday season.
  • Rating: A- (For the collection overall, individual products rated above)
