Lancôme Hypnose Star Mascara & Le Curler

New to the Hypnôse line of mascaras, the Lancôme Hypnôse Star Mascara ($28 USD / $33 CAD) is the ultra-glam volumizing mascara for show-stopping eyes.  The sparkling tube (probably the prettiest mascara tube I’ve ever seen) looks like a beautiful night sky! Available this month, this mascara has “caught my eye” with a few of its unique features.

The mascara has probably the best brush I’ve ever used.  It is a bristle brush, not a plastic one, and it has a very unique shape (or at least I’ve never used a mascara with a wand like this).  The tip tapers to a very small point, and the cone shape of the mascara brush helps to really get close to the lash line and inner corners. I can really get closer to the lashline with this mascara than any mascara I’ve ever used before- and it makes a huge difference in the results.

It’s very much a volumizing mascara, and I do wish it had a bit more separation and definition… I find my lashes to be a bit ‘spikey’ when wearing it (it looks more exaggerated in the macro photo- in real life it’s not so clumpy).

The formula has a light texture, and I would classify it as more of a dry mascara rather than a wet one. The hard carnauba wax helps to set lashes in a curl- helping them to stay lifted much longer (and that really is the ultimate test for me). This works, alongside the Too Faced Lash Injection, the best for keeping my pin-straight lashes curled without a waterproof formula.

The shade is super black with almost a glossy finish, it looks stunning!  It actually contains light-reflecting oils to give that patent leather finish.  I’ve been using it with the new Lancôme Le Curler ($23 USD / $20 CAD) eyelash curler, which I’ve really been liking! I find it gives a great curl without any pinching or pulling lashes (and I must say I’ve been reaching for it more often than my Shu)!

Summary

  • Price: $28 USD / $33 CAD (Mascara) and $23 USD / $20 CAD (Curler)
  • Availability: Sephora
  • Overall: This mascara has quickly become one of my favorites thanks to the amazing triangular brush that gets right to the root of the lashes to coat them from base to tip. The formula lengthens, volumizes and helps keep my lashes curled.
