This summer, Lancôme launched a brand new gel liner formulation in ten gorgeous shades. The Lancôme Liner Design Long Wear Calligraphy Gel Eyeliner ($24.50 USD / $28 CAD), shown here in Black Fishnets, is a waterproof, smudge-proof gel eyeliner that gives the sleek look of liquid liner while having the precision and ease of brush application.
The formula itself is a super pigmented gel with a matte finish (which I love)- it’s so pigmented, it takes no effort at all to get a sleek look. It is quite thick, in comparison to many gel eyeliners I’ve tried- it’s almost more like a cream/cake liner in terms of texture, yet glides on smoothly like a gel.
I found the eyeliner dried very fast, so work quickly or wipe your brush off regularly to prevent build up. It has fantastic wear- lasting all day without flaking (usually a big problem with gel eyeliners), and looking like it was just-applied.
Gel eyeliner itself can take some getting used to- so don’t fret if it isn’t going so well. I tried using the Lancôme #24 Dual-End Liner & Smudger Brush, and while I prefer a more precise application for the gel eyeliner, the small fluffy smudger brush did an amazing job of giving a soft, smokey look to the liner.

- Overall: I’m pretty impressed with this gel eyeliner; while it isn’t anything life-changing, it sure is a great liner. It has a highly pigmented matte black finish, and it goes on so smoothly. It does dry pretty quickly, so you have to work fast. I would consider it a little more for experienced gel eyeliner users… but it’s one of the best!
