Lise Watier Carrousel Cream Eyeshadows

I love palettes. Anything that combines several products into one, convenient compact, has my attention (it must be the makeup artist in me that loves the convenience). The Lise Watier Carrousel Cream Eyeshadows ($20 CAD) is a round palette, similar to their famous Portfolio Correctors, but this wheel contains six metallic, cream eyeshadows instead.

The colors are beautiful- with a bright, shimmery white in the middle surrounded by a pale gold, a golden bronze, a deep rose, a periwinkle blue and a warm pink. The formula is super creamy and silky- they glide on beautifully and blend nicely.  Unfortunately I didn’t find them to be exceptionally pigmented… they do provide a sheer wash of color, but I think I would use them more as an eye base then an actual eyeshadow.

You can build the color if you do a couple layers, letting each layer set for a few minutes in-between applications.

The formula itself stays put without creasing, which is nice… but I do wish they would have a little more color payoff.  What I do love is that they can be used elsewhere on the face as well, similar to the MAC Cream Color Bases. As blushes, bronzers or lip colors, they add a nice highlight to the face and blend in nicely.

Summary

  • Price: $20 CAD
  • Availability: Shoppers Drug Mart
  • Overall: This palette is more pretty to look at than it really translates onto the skin because the colors are so sheer. They work well as bases and can be layered, but I prefer to use them for the rest of the face as highlighters and lip colors instead.
  • Rating: B-
