Continuing the trend of rich, high-shine lip colors, L’Oréal introduces the brand’s newest addition: the L’Oreal Color Riche Extraordinaire Lip Colors ($9.99 USD / $12.99 CAD). Available now in 16 different shades, these glosses provide lips with rich color and super-smooth shine. The packaging is almost a little too simplistic; gold in color with only a small area on one side showing the color of the gloss. With three sides of the tube looking exactly the same, it’s almost easier to just check the bottom of the tube to see which color you’re using.
The shades shown here include:
- Rose Melody: Soft pink
- Blushing Harmony: Purple-pink
- Dancing Rose: Rose pink
- Pink Tremolo: Bright pink
- Rose Symphony: Pink
- Coral Encore: Coral
- Rouge Allergro: Soft red
- Ruby Solo: Cherry red
- Scarlet Concerto: Deep red
- Purple Prelude: Lavender purple
- Molto Mauve: Bright pink
- Violet Adagio: Deep plum
- Nude Ballet: Nude
- Caramel Solo: Brown-nude
The oil-based formula is packed with pigment, so it feels super moisturizing but also delivers great colour. I found the application to be quite easy because the soft, leaf-shaped applicator can be used to precisely line lips while the wide side fills them in quickly.
The texture is so silky and smooth and stayed on nicely without smudging or bleeding with wear. I found these glosses really easy-to-wear; they’re super creamy and definitely made my lips feel soft! Although the color isn’t too long-lasting, maybe only a couple of hours, I didn’t mind because the buttery-smooth gloss feels so good to re-apply!
The gloss goes on well and is buildable for different levels of intensity. There isn’t much scent to these but there is a slight hint of sweetness that I like! The quality of pigment was pretty consistent across the board. The darker shades did take a bit more effort (they sometimes looked a bit patchy at first) than the lighter ones but rich color was easy to achieve with a bit more blending in. Some of my favourites include Rose Symphony and Nude Ballet – they were so pretty and romantic!
The formula is very similar to the recently-launched Maybelline Color Elixir Lip Colors. Although these ones come in a bit of a smaller colour range, I found them all to be a little more conservative and neutral, which is nice for daily wear. The Maybelline ones have a couple more brighter, bolder shades- plus the scent is much stronger. They are both pretty close in price though, so I recommend checking out each formula (you might find something from each line that you love)!
These lip glosses are great if you love rich color and want some serious shine. The texture is perfect for those who prefer a thick, creamy gloss and want to add a little extra moisture to the lips.

We love the moisture and pigment from high-shine glosses but find the packaging a bit lacklustre visually. The conservative shades, ranging from nudes and pinks to purples and plums, work well for day-to-day wear. A great purchase if you're looking for both colour and hydration!
