It’s easy to get caught up in the Spring/Summer 2014 looks coming straight out of NYFW (which is taking over Twitter, Instagram and basically every other social media channel at the moment), sometimes we can forget that it’s still only Fall 2013. A few months ago, I sat down with MAC Canadian Senior Artists Jane M, Melissa G and Caitlin C as they shared the hottest trends and looks straight from the runway.
Fall is all about rebellious blacks, ghostly greys, crimson reds and highlighted textures. Here are their six top must-have products to achieve the hottest trends this season.
MAC PENULTIMATE EYE LINER IN RAPIDBLACK, $19.50 USD / $23 CAD: This versatile eyeliner pen does it all, from a simplistic line to bold graphic looks. An essential tool for creating a rebellious, grunge look, seen on the runways of Monique Lhuillier and Libertine. maccosmetics.com
MAC LIPGLASS IN CLEAR, $15 USD / $18 CAD: This season is all about combining textures to create interesting, new looks. The easiest way to play with texture is by adding a hint of gloss- whether on the lips, eyes or cheeks- this product is a staple in every makeup artist’s kit. maccosmetics.com
MAC EYE SHADOW IN PRINT, $15 USD / $18 CAD: Whether you’re going for a smoky, grunge look à la DKNY or an eerie, muted look like those seen from Sophie Theallet, this shade is a great staple for creating dimension and shadows. maccosmetics.com
MAC PRESSED PIGMENT IN LIGHT TOUCH, $21 USD / $25 CAD: Playing with light and manipulating it on the skin was a huge trend seen on the runways- and one product that was essential for doing so was this multifunctional pressed pigment. Adding a hint of sparkle and shimmer to catch light precisely where it’s desired. maccosmetics.com
MAC MINERALIZE RICH LIPSTICK IN LUSH LIFE, $22 USD / $26 CAD: Red lips are a classic look, but this season a slight gothic twist turns up the intensity. This crimson-cranberry shade set against a pale complexion is the new “it” look for fall. maccosmetics.com
MAC LIP PENCIL IN CHERRY, $15 USD / $18 CAD: Lip pencils were used to create dimension and dual tone effects- focusing the lip liner on the inner edges and corners of the mouth created a very modern look with depth and dimension. maccosmetics.com
