A little while ago, MAC started up an online poll to find out which shades of Lipstick, Lipglass and Eyeshadow you’d love to see again. Now, the results are in and this limited edition, online-only collection is up! Three winners from each category are for sale in the MAC By Request Collection for Fall 2012- and like I said this morning, the collection is selling out fast- so I wanted to get up these photos & swatches as soon as possible!
The Lipsticks, Lipglasses and Eyeshadows are all going on sale on different dates on the MAC website- so mark your calendars! The Lipsticks went on sale August 6th, the Lipglasses go on sale August 8th and the Eyeshadows are available for purchase on August 13th.
The three Lipsticks ($15 USD / $18 CAD) that won over everyone’s hearts are Candy Yum Yum (a neon, highlighter pink), Moxie (a bright red pink) and Rocker (a burgundy red with glitter), all of which are matte finishes (that surprised me). Matte formulas do tend to have the best pigmentation with the longest wear time (although they are quite drying, so moisturize well before applying).
The lipsticks definitely seem to be the most anticipated items out of this throw-back collection, with 2/3 already sold out (sorry! I just got these samples today!)- so hopefully if you had your heart set on a shade you were able to snag it. I was really excited to try Candy Yum Yum because of the hype, and while it is a totally shocking pink, I think I like Moxie a little better (it’s a little more me), and Rocker is a totally amazing vampy shade!
Onto the Lipglasses ($15 USD / $18 CAD), the three shades are Bait (a baby pink with gold pearl), Flash of Flesh (a light nude, pearly pink) and Cult of Cherry (a juicy red with red pearl), all of which are frost textures (meaning they are shimmery).
These lipglasses are incredible- it’s no wonder they got voted back! Bait is one of the most beautiful baby pink glosses I’ve ever seen- it’s just so shimmery and glam, it’s definitely a gorgeous one to top a nude lipstick off with (if I had to recommend only one lipglass, it would be this one). Flash of Flesh is also a gorgeous nude pink, but it almost has a metallic finish to it too! Then there’s Cult of Cherry… who can forget the MAC Cult of Cherry collection from 2008!? It’s the perfect cherry red, and super pigmented!
The Eyeshadows ($15 USD / $18 CAD) were probably the most surprising to me- they are all gorgeous colors, I was just surprised to see that these ones beat out Cool Heat and Solar White (two that I thought would win for sure).
The eyeshadows include Jeté (a sandy, coral veluxe pearl), Guacamole (a light frosty green with gold pearl) and Moth Brown (a frosty, metallic grey/brown). Frost and Veluxe Pearl textures are my two absolute favorites from MAC (I really think they are the two most consistently impressive textures).
My favorite shade would have to be Moth Brown- it would make the most beautiful smoky eye (and I think it’s one of the most unique shades out of them all).
Hopefully if you see something that you like here, you’ll be able to pick it up online! Again, my apologies that this post is only going up today (I did my best to get it up asap)! For those that live in the USA, you can also take advantage of free shipping with code WINNER.
- Price: $15 USD / $18 CAD each
- Availability: MAC (Online Only)
- Overall: The whole collection was undoubtedly going to be full of amazing pieces, because we have seen them before and MAC lovers voted on their old favorites to bring them back. I’m especially impressed with the Lipglasses, but the Lipsticks and Eyeshadows were also incredible. Great pigmentation and wear for each item in the collection.
