Review: MAC Giambattista Valli Lipsticks

One of the most anticipated lipstick collections of the year is almost here. A few months ago, MAC teased about their limited-edition collaboration collection with Italian fashion designer, Giambattista Valli, on Instagram (which went on to be one of our most-liked photos ever after re-posting it).

The simple collection features five matte lipsticks and a shimmery, potted gloss (yep, that’s it), but it’s the packaging that is sure to have each one sold out in minutes (we’re taking bets right now). Each MAC Lipstick ($17.50) comes in a matte, coloured packaging reflective of the shade inside—a detail that we haven’t seen from MAC before and one that lends a beautiful touch to any makeup vanity.

Each shade is a Matte texture, with gorgeous pigmentation and long-lasting wear. If you’re already a matte lip lover, then you’ll be smitten with these. The shades include Bianca B, a pale white-pink, Tats, a bright hot pink, Margherita, an orange-y peach, Charlotte, a deep warm red and Eugenie, a deep burgundy. Most of the shades are extremely wearable, except for Bianca B, which would most likely only suit the palest skintones when dabbed on lightly (or patted with a finger). The rest, while not anything unique or surprising, are quite universally flattering.

This collection is sure to be a must-have for any MAC collector, but if you’re buying them to actually use them, you will be very pleased as well. The collection hits MAC stores and online July 9th. Make your wishlist now—they will sell out fast!
