The MAC Glamour Daze Collection for Holiday 2012 includes two MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinishes ($29 USD / $34 CAD), a pearly-textured, cream-powder highlighter. It also includes three MAC Powder Blushes ($22 USD / $26.50 CAD), of which I have one to show you today, but you can see the full collection here. This large collection has a very sweet, feminine theme with pearl textures, sweet, indulgent hues and glossy black packaging. This limited-edition collection is available now from MAC.
Extra Dimension Skinfinishes
This collection re-promotes the Extra Dimension Skinfinish texture that we saw back in Spring from the MAC In Extra Dimension Collection. Unlike like the eyeshadows, these particular highlighters contain the same amount of product as before. This unique cream-powder texture impressed me the first time I saw them, and they still impress me now!
Both of the shades Whisper of Gilt, a soft white-gold shimmer, as well as Superb, a peachy-nude shimmer, were available last Spring and sold out quickly- so this re-promote was highly anticipated! While both of the shades are universally flattering, I find Whisper of Gilt to look best on warm skintones while Superb is a better match for cool skintones.
They have the same embossed 3D design, however these compacts have a glossy black compact. They are beautifully pigmented and give a gorgeous sheen to the skin! Although they aren’t my favorite highlighter (I do prefer more of a satin sheen instead of a shimmer for highlighting), they would look particularly beautiful for holiday parties and special events!
RATING: A
Powder Blush
This collection also includes three limited-edition Powder Blushes. This shade in Small Vanity is a gorgeous, dusty rose tan shade with a Satin texture (my favorite for blushes)! It’s actually much lighter than I expected after seeing the promo photos- but it’s still really beautiful and buildable. Perfect for the fall & winter season, this dusty rose has a brown undertone that really warms up the complexion.
It’s not the most pigmented blush I’ve found from MAC, but it does do the job and it is buildable. The satin texture gives the slightest hint of a sheen to the skin- really just making it look like natural skin and not chalky at all (as some matte blushes can appear).
RATING: A
Summary
- Price: $29 USD / $34 CAD for 0.31oz / 9g (Extra Dimension Skinfinishes) and $22 USD / $26.50 CAD for 0.21oz / 6g (Powder Blush)
- Availability: MAC
- Overall: A welcome re-promote of the popular Extra Dimension Skinfinishes in two beautiful shades- although this shimmery highlighter isn’t my favorite as I prefer satin textures, it really does a great job of highlighting the skin and making it pop! The blush in Small Vanity is a gorgeous rosy brown shade that really warms up the skin and looks totally natural.
