The MAC Glamour Daze Collection for Holiday 2012 includes five MAC Lipglasses ($16.50 USD / $20 CAD) including pink, coral and violet tones. I have two of them to show you today, but you can see the entire collection here. This large collection has a very sweet, feminine theme with pearl textures, sweet, indulgent hues and glossy black packaging. This limited-edition collection is available now from MAC.
MAC Lipglasses usually have a glossy black cap, but these Holiday 2012 editions feature white writing on the tube. They have the classic MAC vanilla scent and they are a very sticky lipgloss, which some really do not like (but others like myself, do like) which gives it a longer wear time than most glosses on the market.
The two shades I have include…
- Impossibly Sweet: A sheer gloss with gold and pink iridescent shimmer
- Pink Fade: a light, creamy baby pink
Impossibly Sweet is very sheer, so it would look great on top of a lipstick to add some dimension and sparkle, or you can wear it alone. It’s quite fool-proof to apply, yet the tacky texture will allow it to stay on lips for hours. The sparkles also stay on lips for a little while after the gloss has faded.
Pink Fade looks absolutely gorgeous in the tube- I was actually so excited for it when I saw it. Unfortunately, it’s probably one of the worst lip glosses I’ve ever tried (heartbreaking! I know)- the color is so pale and milky that it looks awful on top of lips with any sort of pigmentation and it instantly settles into the lines of the lip. It’s not an attractive sight! I tried many ways to wear this gloss- alone, lightly, heavily, on top of another lipstick… but no dice, my friends.
Personally, I’m a huge fan of MAC Lipglasses, and I always recommend them (in fact, a lipglass was my very first purchase from MAC ever!)- but I strongly do suggest to try them out first in store or look up swatches online before purchasing, because they are quite hit or miss as you can see here… no matter how stunning they look in the tube!
Summary
- Price: $16.50 USD / $20 CAD for 0.17oz / 4.8g
- Availability: MAC
- Overall: Although I’m a huge fan of MAC Lipglasses, I know that they aren’t for everyone. The formula is quite thick and sticky, but they do last for hours on the lips (so it’s a trade-up if you don’t mind the texture). These shades however, didn’t sweep me off my feet, and especially “Pink Fade”, which is very milky, pale and not at all as beautiful on the lips as it is in the tube.
