MAC Mineralize Rich Lipsticks Review, Photos & Swatches

MAC has always been my go-to brand for lipstick. I’ve loved MAC’s lipsticks more than any other brand for longer than I can remember, so it’s always really special when MAC launches a new lip color formula. I get super excited to try them out and see if they could be a new favorite- and that’s exactly what happened with the new MAC Mineralize Rich Lipsticks ($22 USD / $26 CAD), available now from MAC.

The new formulation includes twelve gorgeous shades (in North America; 19 shades in total with exclusives in other countries)… you can see the full line-up here. This new lipstick formulation has come with a re-vamped packaging which, to be honest, I’m not really a fan of. I would have preferred the new formula to be a new “texture” in the original MAC Lipstick packaging, but I know that some will love the new look. The tube features a magnetic closure which helps to keep the cap on securely, as well as a new, larger bullet shape (the top has a more round shape to it).

The shades I have include…

• Glamour Era: Mid-tone, warm brown frost
• Posh Tone: Soft, warm nude cream
• Lush Life: Deep, cool plum

The formula features 77 minerals that nourish lips, leaving them feel hydrated while still feeling light on the lips. The lipsticks have a medium to full buildable coverage and a high-shine finish. I love how they almost have a ‘wet’ look to them and they feel so smooth and comfortable on the lips. While they aren’t super long-wearing, I don’t feel like they are going to slip and slide all over my lips and will wear nicely for at least a few hours.

The formula is similar to the MAC Sheen Supreme lipsticks in terms of shiny finish and hydrating feel, however it offers much more pigmentation. They have the same, original vanilla scent as all MAC Lipsticks do. I really love Posh Tone out of these three; I think it’s a really nice everyday neutral lipstick… and I’ll be sure to pick up a few more of these (I’m eyeing Dreaminess and Luxe Naturale first)!

Of course, I have to address the price hike for these lipsticks. I’m quite disappointed to see that they are so much more expensive than the original MAC Lipsticks. Even though it’s a new formulation and does have more product in it, I would have much rather had less product, in the original MAC packaging and just as a new added texture to the permanent line-up. Only you can decide if the value is there for you, but I have to say that I really do love the formula, even if I disagree with the way it has been delivered.
