I’m not sure how I ever lived before MAC Prep + Prime Vibrancy Eye Primer ($30 USD / $36.50 CDN) hit the stores…oh wait, yes I do…I was constantly complaining that my concealer was creasing and melting off mid day. Right. I don’t talk about it much anymore, but it’s still one of my daily must-haves!
This eye primer comes packaged in the standard black and white MAC box (although this one is similar to their Prep + Prime SPF50…it’s sparkly)! The product itself is contained in a spherical tube with a pump top. I honestly think I’d prefer a doe foot wand or tube, because this pump gives me migraines. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, sometimes it pumps out too much, sometimes not enough. But I mumble through it because the product is worth the pain in the butt packaging.
This primer from MAC is one of the newest in their Prep + Prime range, and it is meant to be applied to the eye area to help deliver a vibrant, luminous finish with a cooling sensation to help de-puff and priming abilities to hold down makeup. I really only use it for the last reason, because I let my concealer do the ‘brightening’ and I don’t find the cooling sensation de-puffs, although it does feel nice. There’s really nothing else on the market like this (or at least I haven’t found it)- a concealer primer that holds down concealer better than anything else I’ve tried and smooths out my under eye area. Combine this baby with MAC Pro Longwear Concealer and I’ve got all day dark circle and creasing protection.
I use about half a pump and place it on my finger tip, then pat it with the same finger on the opposite hand to distribute the product equally, then I’ll pat it under my eyes from inner corner to outer corner, lash line to bottom of my orbital bone. I’ll let it sit for about 2-3 minutes before applying my concealer. When I first started using it, it actually burned my eyes a bit because my skin is SO sensitive, but after using it for a while the irritation stopped.
- Price: $30 USD / $36.50 CDN for 15mL / 0.5oz
- Availability: MAC
- Overall: An excellent undereye primer that helps hold concealer down and crease-free all day (with a good concealer, of course). Cooling sensation is nice and leaves skin looking smooth and luminous. The packaging is a pain, but one that is worth the results.
