The MAC In Extra Dimension Collection for Summer 2013 features three MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinishes ($30 USD / $35 CAD) of which I have two to show you today. This limited-edition collection features Skin Finishes, Blushes and Eye Shadows in the unique near-fluid powder formula. The collection is available now online and will hit stores April 18, 2013 (North America) & May 2013 (International); see the full collection here!
We’ve seen these Extra Dimension Skinfinishes before in the In Extra Dimension Collection for Spring 2012, as well as a few appearances in other collections since then, however these shades in particular have a small (but wonderful) difference- they feature two different shades in split-pan form. The embossed pattern in the product is stunning, and truly shows off the multi-dimensional textures and reflects. The powder has an unmistakable texture to it- silky, smooth, almost creamy… yet still very much a solid powder.
The shades I have here include Double Definition, which features patina bronze and pale gold shades, and Shape The Future, which has reddish rose and pale pink shades. While I was really happy with the original Extra Dimension Skinfinsihes when they launched, I have to say these ones are an awesome improvement. I love having two shades in a single pan (because there is a substantial amount of product for each color) and I really love how they are separated by the original embossed design; it actually makes picking up the separate colors much easier!
I love using Double Definition as a bronzer with a gold highlight- it creates a really pretty summery glow that isn’t over-the-top. Shape The Future is best used as a blush because of the rosy tone to the deep shade, along with a pale pink highlighter. I think MAC did a great job of pairing the shades, but what would have made these products even better was a little more variation in texture- the entire compact is still quite shimmery, and I would have loved to see the bronzer & blush shades a little more ‘satin-like’, similar to the Extra Dimension Blushes.
They are quite subtle, but can be built up for great pigmentation. They go on the skin really smoothly and blend really nicely… they are a really luxurious product! Stunning in the pan and also on the face- great job MAC! Next time, let’s try two different textures too, ok?
