MAC Tropical Taboo Mineralize Rich Lipsticks Review, Photos & Swatches

MAC Tropical Taboo Mineralize Rich Lipsticks

The MAC Tropical Taboo Collection for Summer 2013 includes five MAC Mineralize Rich Lipsticks ($22 USD / $26 CAD), the newest MAC Lipstick texture to join the permanent line-up.  This limited-edition collection features a beautiful array of glowing, mineralized products and bold, tropical hues. Available online now and in store June 26, 2013 (North America), July 2013 (International excluding China) & August 2013 (China) at MAC.

I have two of the lipsticks including Midnight Mambo, an intense violet, and Lady At Play, a mid-tone tangerine coral. It’s no surprise that these new Mineralize Rich Lipsticks are part of this year’s mineral collection, and I’m so happy about it! These lipsticks are phenomenal, and I’ve been in love with them ever since they launched earlier this year. They feature a totally re-designed tube with a magnetic-closure cap and a different bullet shape as well (which I find hugs the curves of the lips beautifully).

Note the size & packaging- different from regular MAC Lipsticks!

The texture is somewhat like a Glaze or Lustre lipstick- they have medium but buildable pigmentation with a high-gloss finish. They are quite fool-proof, easy to apply and incredibly comfortable as well. They last about 3-4 hours on me, which isn’t too long in lipstick terms, but the comfort and juicy color you get out of them is worth it. They glide on really easily- almost too easily sometimes as they are very rich and creamy (don’t push too hard or you’ll actually scrape the bullet on the tube like I did- oops)!

Lady At Play is so fun and perfect for summer- it also looks much more pinky-coral on the lips then in the tube, while Midnight Mambo went on slightly more sheer and appeared as a fuchsia shade on the lips (perhaps its the intense violet combined with the natural pink of my lips that made it happen)- it’s really beautiful, and both of them are much more wearable on the lips than you might think at first!

I can’t wait to see the other colors in the collection- that baby pink has my name all over it. Also, I reviewed Glamour Era in the past here if you want to see it as well!
