Marcelle Anti-Aging & Cream-to-Powder BB Creams

Get excited, BB lovers… Marcelle is launching two new BB Cream formulations next month! Tweaking their original formula a bit, the new launch includes the Marcelle Anti-Aging BB Cream SPF 20 as well as the Marcelle Cream-to-Powder BB Cream.  Both formulas will be available in Light to Medium as well as Medium to Dark, and they are adding a third, darkest shade, to the original formula (awesome news for those who need a deeper shade than what is available).

I posted some sneak peek photos from the Annabelle / Marcelle Fall 2012 Preview Event, and everyone was super excited to see the new cream-to-powder formulation (myself included)!  While I do believe that the term BB Cream is starting to get used a little loosely, I don’t really mind because the product speaks for itself.

The Marcelle Cream-to-Powder BB Cream really resembles the Benefit Some Kind-a Gorgeous, only with a little more pigmentation.  It smoothes on nicely with the included sponge (for full coverage), or you can use a foundation brush, stippling brush or fingers to apply where needed.  It looks completely natural, and I’m so in love with that!

The best part about it is that it is a one-step makeup that you can truly apply and get out the door. There’s no need to set it because it dries to a powder finish (without looking powdery).  It smoothes out imperfections, but the coverage isn’t enough to cover blemishes or dark discolorations- I’d recommend a concealer for those.

For me, it’s truly my new “weekend makeup” because of its light-as-air feel, sheer (but still enough) coverage to even out my complexion and I don’t have to worry about caking on liquid and powder in this hot summer heat!

The Marcelle Anti-Aging BB Cream SPF 20 really resembles the original BB Cream formula to me- it comes in an identical-looking tube, and the formula really feels the same to me.  This one is slightly more hydrating, but I don’t really feel as if it does a better job of blurring imperfections (there’s really only so much a BB Cream can do).

It does have the added SPF 20 bonus which is great for daily protection, but if you’re going to be out in the sun all day, definitely wear a more protective sunblock first.  The coverage is light to medium, and this one I do feel needs to be set with a powder (because it is more hydrating), especially under the eyes.  As well, it doesn’t cover blemishes or deep discolorations, so those will require extra concealer.

Summary

  • Price: TBA, but expect around the original price tag of $22.95 CAD
  • Availability: Canadian drugstores (July 2012)
  • Selection: Each formula is available in both Light to Medium and Medium to Dark
  • Overall: I like these new additions to the Marcelle BB Cream line- while I feel like the term BB Cream is being loosely used, I do think these are great products. The cream-to-powder formula is my favourite, because its super simple and easy to use yet it covers quite well. The new anti-aging formula will be great for those who loved the original, but want a bit more hydration and sun protection.
